4k (2.5 Mile) Chip-Timed Road Race and Walk

CXC4L and Newark Days are proud to be hosting the Newark Mile again this year! The race will again be taking place on its traditional 4k (2.5 mile) course along the Newark Days parade route.
Cost: The earlier you register, the more you save!
Before September 6: $20!
September 7 - 20: $25
September 21 (race day): $30
Special before July 21: $13 with no t-shirt (simply select "none" when prompted for your t-shirt size to receive the discount)
Want to avoid the lines on race day? You can pick up your race bib with timing chip and Newark Mile T-shirt on Sunday, September 15 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm in front of the Newark Community Center, 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA (at the corner of Cedar Blvd. and Chapman Dr.).
Registrations include free finisher medal and Newark Days T-shirt while supplies last!
Register before July 21 to guarantee your T-shirt and preferred size!
After July 21, T-shirt availabilty and preferred sizes are only while supplies last and are not guaranteed.

On Race Day
Race day is Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Parking: We recommend parking on nearby residential streets. Some parking options can be found here. Parking in Newark Days lots will not be available as they will be blocked due to the closures of Cedar and Newark Blvds. for the Newark Mile and Newark Days Parade. We strongly recommend that participants and spectators who live nearby travel to the race either by foot or bike to the race.
Check in between 7:00 am and 8:30 am in front of the Newark Community Center, 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA (at the corner of Cedar Blvd. and Chapman Dr.) Pick up your bib with timing chip and free T-shirt!
If you did not pre-register, you can still register on race day between 7:00 am and 8:30 am at the check-in table. Fee is $30 so pre-registration is encouraged! Please arrive early as no day-of registrations will be allowed after 8:30 am - sharp. No exceptions due do the time needed to get the race started punctually.
The check-in table will close promptly at 8:30 am.
Feel free to warm up in the nearby Newark Community Center Park.
Restrooms are available inside the Newark Community Center after 7:00 am.
At about 8:45 am, meet back at the check-in table for race instructions from the race directors.
Observe starting line courtesy: faster runners in front, slower runners further back. If you plan to walk the Newark Mile or have a stroller, please line up towards the back.
Make sure to finish strong! Our photographer will be getting your photo at the finish line!
Our wonderful CXC4L volunteers will be at the finish line to adorn you with your Newark Mile finisher medal!
How did you do? Results will be posted on RunSignUp as soon as available!
Don't miss the awards ceremony after the Newark Mile concludes (about 10:00 am) to see if you won an award and see who will be crowned the fastest man and woman in Newark!
Don't forget after the race to enjoy all that Newark Days has to offer this year: the Newark Days parade, stage shows, carnival, car show, arts and crafts booths, beer and wine pavillion, and all of the delicious food!
Newark Mile 4kids!
We are pleased to host once again the Newark Mile 4kids, a family favorite!
What is it?: This approximately 50 meter race is intended for kids to get ready to run the Newark Mile when they're older.
Time: 8:30 am, right before the Newark Mile. Parents, please have your little runners ready to go at 8:15 am to participate. Announcements will be made over the speakers when the kids are being gathered.
Place: The race will take place near the check-in table at Cedar Blvd. and Chapman Dr.
Other info: For younger children, it is recommended to have one parent/friend/relative at the start line and one at the finish line.
Fee: The Newark Mile 4kids is free!
Awards
There are several categories of awards given out at the Newark Mile:
All runners get a special edition finisher medal
Trophies for the first overall male and female
Trophies for the first Newark resident male and female
Trophies for the first male and female in each age group
Medals for the top 3 males and females in each age group
The age groups are: 0 to 14, 15 to 25, 26 to 35, 36 to 45, 46 to 55, 56 to 65, and 66 & over.
Below are the Newark Mile meet records as of the 2019 race. Note: records only involve races completed along the 2.5 mile parade course; alternate venues or distances (e.g. 2010 1.25 mile Lake course) or virtual races are excluded. The 65+ group was created in 2016, so records for that age group are from 2016 and beyond. The previous 56+ records were converted to the 56-65 records as of 2016.

CXC4L Alumni Association
CXC4L is proud to be the community group coordinator for the Newark Mile 4k since 2010. Founded in 2005, CXC4L is the organization for alumni of the Newark Memorial High School cross country team, with over 100 members ranging from the class of 1975 to present day.
